The University of Wisconsin - River Falls is a coeducational, public university with strong programs in the arts and sciences, business and economics, education, and agriculture, food and environmental sciences. In 1999 the UW- River Falls celebrated its 125th anniversary with an enrollment of approx. 6,000 students. UWRF is nearing final approval to many major new facilities in a few years. A new $26 million student center could see groundbreaking in the summer of 2002. A proposed health & human performance building valued at $20 million is in the initial stages of approval & could enter the planning stages in 2001. UWRF is also looking to build a modern dairy farm facility, with the newest equipment available.

“Adding
another dimension to education in River Falls”
A growing interest in a technical education led to expansion of popular Chippewa Valley Technical College in River Falls. This new 20,000 sq. ft. satellite campus of the main college located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin opened in the fall of 1999. More than 200 people attended the free adult Basic Education classes annually. Among the most popular are courses in career planning, resume writing, keyboarding, and basic math review.
The fall of 2000, Chippewa Valley Technical College – River Falls implemented paramedic training and Emergency Medical Technician – intermediate training, giving the local community optimal medical services.
