Baseball
Baseball fields are located at the River Falls High School. American Legion baseball is offered to any player age 15-18 who attends River Falls’ schools. For more information call Park and Recreation at 715-425-0924.
Basketball
Public basketball courts are available at Glen Park, Larsen Park and at the University just east of the dorms. Indoor facilities are available at UW-RF Knowles Center.
Biking
Pierce and St. Croix County collectively offer some of the most scenic bike routes in the state. From River Falls, riders might travel south about 10 miles to Prescott and link up with the Great River Road. Other scenic alternatives are CTH O and E, both south of the city, which eventually connect with Hwy. 35 near the Mississippi River, about 12 miles south. St. Croix scenic routes include CTH MM and paved township roads northwest of the city which can carry riders to Hudson, about 10 miles away. To the northeast, follow CTH M east to CTH T using Hammond as a destination about 17 miles away. Pick up a county map for more detailed information. Off-road cyclists might enjoy the 5 miles of trails in the White Tail Ridge Industrial Park on the north side of River Falls.
Boating
The nearby St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers offer great opportunities for power boating and sailing enthusiasts. Boat launch and marina facilities are available at Hudson and Prescott, each about 15 minutes from River Falls. Public ramps on the Mississippi River are available at Diamond Bluff, Hager City, Bay City and Maiden Rock, the first of which is just 20 minutes south of the city.
Cross Country Skiiing
Groomed and tracked trails are laid out in the scenic hills behind Hoffman Park, just off E. Division St.
Farmers Market
Every Saturday, May through October from 8:00 a.m. until noon and Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. you can purchase fresh grown produce from local farmers. For more information contact Betty at 715-425-7394.
Disc Golf
The course is a standard nine-hole course totaling 3,115 feet, with hole distances between 290 and 450 feet and pars between 3 and 5. The course has been designed with beginning and amateur disc golfers in mind and guides the disc golfer through beautiful Hoffman Park using natural obstacles such as trees and bushes to present the course's challenge. Golf
River Falls has two highly-recognized quality golf courses: Kilkarney Hills Golf Course and River Falls Golf Club.
Hockey
River Falls Youth Hockey Association offers league play for boys and girls, ages 4-18. Call Park and Recreation for more information, 715-425-0924.
Horseshoes
Horseshoe pits are available at Glen Park. Call River Falls Parks & Recreation at 425-0924 to reserve.
Ice Rinks
Hoffman Park boasts the largest and most complete outdoor ice facilities with two rinks suitable for hockey practice and a warming house. Smaller pleasure rinks are located at the Ingram Center, 210 N Lewis St., at Wells Park on Kennedy St., and at Hamilton Park between Foster and Bartosh Streets. Hunt Arena, a UW-RF indoor facility is also available for pleasure skating. Call 715-425-0924 for open skating hours.
Rock Climbing
An indoor rock climbing facility is located on the UW-RF campus at the Knowles Center. This is for all ability levels. Climbing is a great way to build teamwork, confidence, fitness and more. Groups welcome. For fee information and your questions call 715-425-4289.
Skateboarding and In-Line Skating
Located in Hoffman Park. The circular blacktopped area contains half-pipes and ramps. Admission is free. Helmets are recommended.
Snow Shoeing
Try some new shoes on! River Falls’ scenic area has some of the best places to go snowshoeing. With the Kinni River running through the scenic town there is plenty of opportunity to try on some BIG shoes and a great way to get out and enjoy the snow.
Softball
Softball fields are scattered all over town: Hoffman and Glen Park (425-0924), at all the public schools (425-1833) and the University. Call the phone numbers in parentheses to make arrangements.
Swimming
The pool at Glen Park first opens on Memorial Day weekend and closes the weekend after school starts in the fall. Swimming lessons are sponsored by the River Falls Parks & Recreation Department. To register and for pool hours call 425-0924.
Tennis
Outdoor tennis courts are located at Glen Park near the park exit, Wells Park, behind the high school and just east of the University dorms. Indoor facilities are available at UW-RF Knowles Center. Call 425-4289 for information.
